Faculty and Staff Assistance Program
Assessment, brief counseling, and referral resources are available to UCSF campus and medical center employees, who may have substance abuse/dependency (drug and/or alcohol abuse). The Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), also offers services that attend to a broad range of work-related and/or personal stressors including: depression; crisis situations; grief and loss; traumatic events; anxiety; domestic violence; marital/partnership/famiy concerns; interpersonal conflict; elder/dependent care, etc. These services are confidential and are provided by a staff of licensed clinicians. The FSAP office is located at Laurel Height in Room 293. The telephone number is 476-8279. FSAP is available to provide support for victims and to assist them as necessary whether or not they choose to make a police report.
Student Health Services
Students should contact Student Health Services (SHS)at 476-1281 for evaluation, treatment, and referrals for medical conditions and injuries, mental health problems, and drug or alcohol problems.
SHS has two locations: 500 Parnassus Ave, Millberry Union, H level, MUH-005 and Mission Bay Community Center, 1675 Owens Street, 3rd Floor, Suite 330. The Parnassus Clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and Thursday from 8:00am to 8:00p.m. The Mission Bay Clinic is open Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00p.m. Detailed information about the SHS programs and services can be viewed on the SHS website.
Students seeking emergency counseling during non-business hours should call the main SHS phone at 415-476-1281 and select the prompt that will connect them to an afterhours crisis counselor or go to the nearest Emergency Department. Students may also contact one of the public services agency telephone numbers listed in the Important Telephone Number section of the Campus Security and Personal Safety Brochure.

The Center for Gender Equity (CGE) provides counseling services which include training, resource referral, relocation and safety planning in three core content areas:
- Women and Gender
- Intimate Partner Violence & Sexual Assault Prevention
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender issues
These services are available to all members of the UCSF community (students, faculty, staff and postdocs) as well as our greater San Francisco Bay Area community members. There are also possibilities for national and international consultation.
Office hours for counselor, Mijiza Sanchez is Mondays from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and Tuesdays - Fridays from 8:30-5:00pm and by appointment. The contact information is msanchez@genderequity.ucsf.edu or 476-5223.
