Legends of China
Registration for the 2012 program is now closed.
Since 2002, UC students, staff and faculty have traveled to China on cross-cultural exchange trips sponsored by The Legends of China (LOC), a non-profit Chinese foundation dedicated to improving US Chinese ties and working relationships.
A combination historical tour and educational outing, “The Silk Road to the Future” trip has now involved over 3500 students, faculty and staff as “Ambassadors of Peace” as part of China’s build-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Now, Phase II begins that will involve more nations and bring students, business, and government leaders together to move into the world’s future.
Trips are planned each summer. 2012's theme is: Learning the Chinese Language & Chinese Friendship
LOC’s programs are open on an invitational basis only. LOC invites all UC faculty, staff, students and their family members to participate in this unique experience.
The Legends of China educational and cultural program package includes:
- International airline tickets, and domestic airline tickets, train tickets, transportation in China
- 4 or 5 star hotels and three meals/ day except during periods of “free time”
- Educational/cultural programs
- Silk Banner material and award ceremony
- Travel insurance
- English speaking national & local guides, program interpreters/translators, LOC staff support
- Historical site tours
